Emerson Vineyards is a family owned and operated winery on 127 acres in the low rolling hills of the coast range in the heart of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. All of the work that they do in the vineyard is with sustainability in mind. Their spray program is exclusively organic, they try to use organic products in all aspects of the vineyard, and they do all that they can to minimize the impact that their farming has on the land. At every step of the process, they make decisions that they believe are both ecologically sound and ultimately beneficial to their vines and wines. Some examples of these decisions are carefully-selected cover crops between the rows, use of the spent-grape-skin “pomace” as fertilizer and ground cover in the vineyards, and dry-farming our vines.
